Bitaxe Gamma Quick Installation Guide

This guide walks you through the essential steps to get your Bitaxe Gamma miner running smoothly from the moment it arrives.

1. Attach the Display Module

Your Bitaxe Gamma may arrive with the screen detached for protection. If so, align the screen with the mounting points on the top of the board and secure it using the included fixtures.

2. Connect Power

Plug the included 5V power adapter into a wall outlet and connect it to your miner. The Bitaxe Gamma supports global voltage standards and will power on automatically.

3. First Boot

Allow the device to start. When the screen shows “Bitaxe_XXXX”, the miner is ready for setup.

4. Connect to the Temporary Wi-Fi

Using your phone or computer, join the temporary network named “Bitaxe_XXXX”. If your device warns that there is no internet, choose to continue anyway.

5. Configure AxeOS Wi-Fi

Open the setup interface and enter your home Wi-Fi details:

  • Wi-Fi ID: Your 2.4 GHz SSID
  • Password: Enter carefully

Click Save and then Restart. Once connected, the miner display will show its local IP address.

6. Configure Your Mining Settings

On a device connected to the same network, enter the miner IP address into your browser to open the dashboard.

Set the following:

  • Stratum User: Your Bitcoin wallet address (must start with “bc1”, “1” or “3”). This is required for receiving rewards.
  • Stratum URL: Your chosen mining pool URL (without “tcp://”).

Recommended Solo Mining Pool (Lottery Mining)

  • Stratum Host: solo-de.solohash.co.uk
  • Port: 3333
  • User: btcaddress.minername

    Example: bc1q9ejczvsljla3md5d4r4almy5t3mxr93fgse88edm05wdapc0zq9svk7yvh.Veðrfölnir

Save and restart. Your miner will begin hashing immediately.

Firmware Updates

Updating your firmware is quick and helps maintain optimal performance.

  1. Open the Bitaxe dashboard in your browser.
  2. Click Check for Updates to see whether a new version is available.
  3. If an update exists, download both required files:
    • esp-miner.bin
  4. In the update section of the dashboard:
    • Upload www.bin into the Web UI field
    • Upload esp-miner.bin into the Firmware field
  5. Apply the update and allow the miner to reboot.

Notes and Warnings

  • Your Bitaxe ships with the latest firmware available at the time of purchase. We flash each unit before shipping.
  • Use only a 5V power supply. Anything higher will permanently damage the board. Your package includes the correct 5V adapter.
  • Always upload both firmware files when updating. Updating only one will cause compatibility issues.
  • Bitaxe miners can be overclocked, but doing so voids your warranty and carries a high risk of hardware failure. If unsure, use a benchmarking tool or contact us before modifying clock settings.
